1. Why did my equipment rental charges stop appearing on our GSU bill?
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB), who regulates the Ontario electricity industry, has recently started enforcing its “Affiliate Relationships Code for Electricity Distributors and Transmitters’”. @home Energy must abide by the OEB policies to remain in compliance with the government regulations.
2. What options do I have for paying my @home Energy bill?
All standard methods of payment are available including payment at your financial institution (if you have a bank card), internet banking, and telephone banking. You can also choose to mail in a cheque made out to @home Energy at:

Please include your customer account number in the memo.
You can also stop in and see us at @home Energy located at 500 Regent Street (wtihin the GSU building), where we except cash, cheque, Interact, Visa or MasterCard.
If you cannot make it to our store location, we accept Visa/MasterCard payments over the phone for your convenience. Please have your Visa or MasterCard ready for the @home Energy staff member that answers your call. Thank you.
@home Energy offers 2 different Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) plan options (bank account method only):
1) a quarterly withdrawal option or 2) a monthly withdrawal (Equal Payment Plan) option
Variable Payment Plan: the exact amount of your quarterly bill will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account, on the due date of your bill.
Equal Payment Plan: an equal payment amount is withdrawn on the same day of every month with a reconciliation month once a year.
3. Why can’t I register @home Energy for online banking payments?
You can! @home Energy offers all of the standard ways to pay your bill, so you can conveniently pay it how you’d like to. If your having difficulty registering @home Energy for online banking payments through your bank, it’s always best to phone your bank for help as they can walk you through it to ensure your payments reach your intended destination.
Here are a few tips to help you get started:
When entering @home Energy into your banking website, you must spell out our company name – At Home Energy – because banking websites do not accept keyboard symbols.
Enter Name As: At Home Energy If you are unable to find us that way, try Athome Energy.
You should then be prompted to enter your 18-digit @home Energy account number; do not include a dash or space when inputting the account number. The format for our account number is xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx (all 18 digits must be included, even the zeros, no dash or space).
From there you should be able to find our company available to be selected. @home Energy is available for online payments with all financial institutions.
4. What is required to have an electric water heater installed?
In order to install an electric hot water tank you need to have:
- adequate space (at least 2 feet x 2 feet x 5 feet) available
- 240 volt feed, 12 AWG wiring at the site, and enough space in your electrical panel for a 20 Amp double pole breaker
5. Does @home Energy rent gas water heaters?
Yes! @home Energy offers a wide range of gas water heater models to choose from, including the environmentally friendly and cost efficient Rinnai Tankless Water Heater. With this tank you will get endless hot water, a major space saver, no risk of flood damage, and a water heater that only uses fuel when I’m using hot water!
6. Am I required to sign a contract?
Yes. @home Energy requires that you sign a 5 year term contract with the installation of all new water heater rentals. Your rental rate is subject to yearly increases, based on the CPI Index.
